Easter School Holidays: Simple Ways to Keep Children Entertained

Easter School Holidays: Simple Ways to Keep Children Entertained

Making the Most of the Easter School Holidays

The Easter school holidays offer a chance for families to slow down, spend time together, and enjoy the first signs of spring. Whether you’re planning days out, staying close to home, or juggling work alongside childcare, a few simple activities can turn the break into something memorable.

It’s often the unplanned, relaxed moments that children remember most.

Create an Easter Egg Hunt at Home

An Easter egg hunt is a classic for a reason. Whether in the garden, around the house, or even on a walk, it’s an easy way to create excitement with very little preparation.

You can make it more special with handwritten clues, small prizes, or a themed trail. Older children enjoy solving riddles, while younger ones love the thrill of discovery. It’s a tradition that can be repeated each year, and one that grows with them.

Rainy Day Scrapbooking

Spring weather is never entirely predictable, which makes indoor activities essential. Scrapbooking is a calm, creative way to spend an afternoon, especially after a day out.

Children can include drawings, photographs, ticket stubs, pressed flowers, or notes about what they enjoyed most. Over time, these pages build into a keepsake of holidays, milestones, and family moments - something they’ll love looking back on.

Bring Out the Games

School holidays are the perfect excuse for screen-free entertainment. Traditional games bring everyone together, whether it’s a quick round after lunch or a longer afternoon challenge.

Chess encourages patience and strategy, backgammon is easy to learn but endlessly engaging, and Perudo is perfect for lively family play. These shared games often become part of the holiday rhythm, something children look forward to each year.

Get Outside When the Sun Appears

Even a short walk can become an adventure. Spring flowers, parks, countryside paths, or simply exploring the local area can keep children entertained for hours.

Collecting leaves, spotting wildlife, or taking photographs along the way gives the outing a purpose. These small moments often provide the best material for a scrapbook later in the day.

Start a Family Holiday Tradition

The Easter break is a lovely time to begin small traditions; a game every afternoon, an annual photo, a family lunch, or a scrapbook added to each year.

These rituals don’t need to be elaborate. The consistency is what makes them meaningful, turning a few days off school into something children remember long after the holidays end and stories to tell their friends.

A Slower, Simpler Holiday

The Easter school holidays don’t need a packed schedule. A balance of outdoor adventures, creative time, and family games is often more than enough.

However you choose to spend it, the Easter break is a chance to step away from routine, spend time together, and create moments worth keeping.
