Bold chess set in colours Peacock Blue & Light Gold are a modern reflection of the crazed art movement of the late nineteenth century - Japonisme, with one of the greatest examples created by American artist James Abbott McNeill Whistler - "The Peacock Room".
Uniting both the classic and contemporary, incorporating hand turned and carved Staunton inspired design chess pieces, featuring Purling's unique Knight design.
Our luxury hardwood pieces are produced to a high standard and are hand painted and finished in London, with each piece receiving two layers of base coat primer, two coats of high gloss paint and two layers of crystal-clear lacquer to produce a deep, glossy and durable finish.
Each piece is completed with a beautiful Italian Napa leather base felt featuring the Purling logo embossed in 18 carat gold and each set features four Queens for effortless pawn promotion.
The chess pieces are paired with an Italian alabaster stone board, measuring 44cm x 44cm.
