Inspired by the contrast between the long, subdued winter days and the crisp clarity of frosted night skies, this Bold Chess Set captures the magic of a landscape transformed by glittering frost and shimmering moonlight.

The luxury hardwood chess pieces are hand-carved in Boxwood, taking inspiration from the timeless Staunton design and featuring Purling’s distinctive Knight. Each piece is triple-weighted for perfect balance.

Every piece is hand-painted and finished in London, going through a meticulous six-stage process: two layers of base coat primer, two coats of high-gloss paint, and two layers of crystal-clear lacquer. This produces a deeply satisfying hand-feel with a glossy, durable finish.

To complete the design, each piece features a soft Italian Nappa leather base felt, embossed with the Purling crown logo in 18-carat gold. Each set also includes four Queens for effortless pawn promotion.

The pieces are paired with a 45cm x 45cm Italian alabaster stone chess board, refined and minimal, echoing the icy elegance of the Frost & Night Sky palette.
